Hard-to-Reach Areas

The shoebox gift you packed online is a crucial part of showing God’s love to a child in a challenging region of the world. Millions of people in these places have not heard a clear presentation of the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. Some may be openly hostile to the message. Your generous gift provides a platform for Christian partners to engage in ongoing relationship with a child and their family. This ultimately can lead to introducing them to salvation in Jesus Christ.

The items you prayerfully selected for the child will be placed in red-and-green plastic shoeboxes by volunteers at our Midwest Ministry Center in Aurora, Illinois, in January and February. As these sturdy boxes are sent to hard-to-reach areas, they become an additional keepsake for the child.

Our ministry partners in these places—where believers are often persecuted for their faith—give thanks for your critical support in helping them proclaim the Gospel “for obedience to the faith among all nations for His name” (Romans 1:5).

• Please don't stop praying for the boy or girl who will receive your shoebox gift. Continue to ask God to soften his or her heart to the Gospel and give them the courage to follow Christ even if others around them do not—yet!
• Pray that communities in these hard-to-reach areas will be transformed by light of the Gospel they experience through shoebox gifts.
• Ask God to guide, guard, and protect the local believers who distribute them and make them effective ambassadors for Him.

The Greatest Journey

After your shoebox gift delights a boy or girl, you can give them the opportunity to participate in The Greatest Journey.

Taught by trained local teachers, this 12-lesson discipleship program shows children how to follow Christ and share Him with others. As boys and girls share the Scripture stories they learn in class, their friends and family come to faith—growing churches, starting new congregations, and transforming communities by the power of the Gospel.
